Post subject:  Intrada And Select Reissues

There are a lot of reissues out these days from all directions. One of the by products of the limited release model that we helped initiate back in 1985 with our very first LP is that today, many licensors understandably just keep re-licensing these "out-of-print" titles. In actuality, many of the so-called "limited editions" and out-of-print titles are neither limited nor out-of-print. Fun while it lasted.

While Intrada will continue to focus on looking forward rather than backward, we certainly agree that a lot of this music really should be available not only to today's audiences but also to new audiences and still newer audiences down the line. We're quite happy with our current model that remains amongst the most customer friendly, letting you have at least some say in the quantities pressed. Enough copies get around to meet the demand for people just looking for good music and then things become deleted, acknowledging that there are plenty of limited edition fans wanting the rare artifacts as well.

We also read our email and accept that many people want a chance to own titles that once were available but are no longer around. So we're listening. We'll be bringing back some things within our control, albeit on a pretty select basis. Things that disappeared quickly or have been out of the marketplace for quite some time. But we'll be judicious here and reissues will be based largely on the amount of mail we've had over the years.

One important item to mention here. If a given title is presented from truly all-new masters and includes any additional material and whatnot... yes, we'll recommend it to one and all. If the title is drawn from essentially the same masters or includes no new material, we'll certainly make note of this as well so those already owning the music don't waste their hard-earned money re-buying it. Unless they really want to, of course. :)

All of this said, one of the really important reissues, drawn from all-new vault elements, is being released this coming Tuesday. And it features some cool extras. Plus - it's one of our very favorite projects. And, yes, this is one I recommend.

And you'll always have people who chronically complain about re-releases. The people who have significant issues with re-releases even when you offer around three dozen or so CD premieres in a year are ridiculous.

I don't email you guys and would rather pester you only on the forums. So, I'll throw in my most hearty request for a reissue of Craig Safan's Son of the Morning Star if you can manage to pull that off under modern licensing circumstances. It is Safan's best score that I've yet to hear, and I've listened to a lot of his work.

I'd love a reissue/remaster/expansion of Son of the Morning Star too -- it's Safan's masterpiece! On the other hand I'd also buy a complete remastered Last Starfighter, my second favorite score of his, and that reissue might sell better if the two...

Intrada releases I would definitely would like to see released again are:
- Flowers in the Attic
- Sahara
- Miracle on 34th Street
- Planet Of The Apes (1974 TV-series)

Optionally, these are interesting as well:
- The Old Man and the Sea
- Deepstar Six
- The Barbarians

I picked up MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET by Mr. Broughton the very day it was released because I knew I wanted it and knew it would sell out right away.

I would love to see this title come back for the people who missed out on it.
It deserves a re-release...:-)

I picked up Miracle earlier this year on ebay. A sealed copy for £50 - so I'm sure that will come later this year lol

Anyway, I'm always happy to see some titles get re-released whether I want them or not.
a) I want it: saves going to the ebay scalpers
b) I don't want it: it saves me money towards the next release I want

Very much looking forward to finally getting Night Crossing on Tuesday (it has to be that title doesn't it). The expanded release doesn't come onto ebay that often and when it does it's way out of my price band.

I agree about Craig Safan's Son of the Morning Star as well, would love to get hold of that one.
Christopher Young's Flowers in the Attic wouldn't go amiss either.
And if you're taking notes, Poledouris' SwitchBack

Some people will always complain about re-releases. Because they have it they don't care whether anyone does.
It's all very well going to the second hand market to pick up older titles, it's something I've often done, except no money goes to the label and none goes to the composer.

There is room in this market for new and old alike.

I don't think we've had the complete Judge Dredd, unless I missed it! Jarre's, Night Of The Generals is a good choice. I have the original release & still listen to it regularly, love that lugubrious military march, & the love theme is one of Jarre's best.

Of course Judge Dredd complete doesn't exist, that why it needs to be expanded for its reissue !
