Most of the time, my lovely long time girl friend (we've been living together for about 10 years now) puts up with whatever I put on. (I listen to a bunch of stuff, not just film music, but also classical, jazz, some pop/rock, whatever, so it's not as if she's just getting a steady diet of film scores.) Anyway, she sometimes likes this, or dislikes that, and at other times again she just ignores any music. However, she does have the annoying habbit to once in a while fall in love with something I play. When that happens, she wants that CD played over and over again. I hate it when that happens, because I usually do not much care to listen to the same CD more than once a day, let alone several times in a row. It has even happened with soundtracks, such as Patrick Doyle's Hamlet and Henry V, Jerry Goldsmith's Rudy, Medicine Man, and some more. When that happens, I usually have no choice but to just turn over the CD to let her play it on her own CD player in some other room (or better yet, transfer the stuff to her MP3 player), and wait until the fad has passed. ;)

And I should add: she really loves Jerry Goldsmith's Rambo scores. All of them.

And, not only does she like the Rambo scores, but she tends to hate musicals. So much for the "girls like romantic musicals" theory.

My Significant Other loves Thomas Newman, especially Angels in America and American Beauty.

I remember going to see A Series of Unfortunate Events and he immediately asked me after the movie was over "You're going to get the score to this, aren't you?"

Of course, I did.

When my wife chose to marry myself, she was aware that I had a mistress - my soundtrack collection - and that she would have to share me with them. As time has gone though she has developed a good ear (Not that your ears wern't good already. dearest, in case you are reading this) for soundtracks however her favourite theme/score is "Crocodile Dundee".

There really is a nice love theme in this score where they reunite at the end and also where Dundee saves the Kangaroos from a slaying. It is this theme that she loves. Thank you Peter Best!

She also likes Silvestri's thunderous "Young Guns 2" - 2 extremes i guess!

Well, my wife prefers anything by John Barry, especially the romantic tracks in his scores. Another one of her favorites is Message in a Bottle by Gabrielle Yared.

The only film music that my girlfriend actually flees from is Goldsmith's Omen music; the Omen score scares her. Ironically, the movie did not. In fact, after actually watching The Omen (the Richard Donner film) she found the score somewhat less terrifying.

My wife loves the melodic scores of Morricone (Giu la testa, Once upon a time...,The burglars..) and Bacalov (Il Postino). She hates the Barry stuff: no chance to play Quiller-memorandum, somewhere in time... except Dance with wolves (I suppose because she´s a Costner fan).

But what really surprised me: one day i came home she played ´Serpent and the rainbow´.I hate this synthi-music (can´t really imagine why i bought it) but she likes it.

Greetings
Peter-Anselm
