Dear Doug & Intrada-Team, your fantastic "Breakfast at Tiffany's"-Release inspired me to buy Mancini's Album Version as well, however I was VERY disappointed with the sound quality of this CD.  In no way was it up to Intrada's standards at all! So I wanted to ask which "Breakfast at Tiffany's"-Album Version out there would you personally recommend as a companion to your outstanding release?

I disagree totally, the edition is fantastic and the sound considering the age is very good, by contrary of you I have to thank Intrada for this great release!!! |

Sorry, my English is obviously a lot worse than I feared it would be! The Intrada Release IMHO is fantastic! Pure joy! I can't get enough of it! However it's the film version - which is fine, as there are hundreds of album releases. Only problem is I don't know which one to pick and that's where my question was coming from. I randomly picked one and the sound quality was totally awful! So I wanted to ask Doug which album version he can personally recommend as a companion piece to his Intrada release? (= which one comes closest to the stellar sound of the Intrada release in regards to the album version) I hope I've now made my point more clear. In no way was it meant as a criticism of the Intrada release - quite the contrary! |

I have the 2003 release of the album recording that includes a bonus track from Wait Until Dark. Clarity and stereo imaging is good. My only issue is the significant amount of reverb, which I suspect is just the sound of the recording rather than anything done in post. Between the performances and overall sound, I feel very little need to go outside of the Intrada release for my fix of this score. There will apparently be an 11-CD set of Mancini albums released later this year, and I imagine that the album recording will be one of the reissues in the bunch. |
