Your description of the score is quite intriguing, Doug. I have just searched for images from the movie: it looks awesome! I like the way it was shot and processed (most pictures look orange or red rather than pink as you mentioned, by the way). The bat-spider creature design is great too-- in that charming funny '50's way, course (on that topic, my search turned up ) Thanks for these notes on various movies and their scores! |

Thanks for reading it, Olivier. Keep in mind that stills from this movie show up over the internet in nice shades of red and orange BUT when you actually watch the movie it all comes out in a single reddish-pink tone. Not exactly what I would've thought Mars would look like... but it's a bit too far way for me to go check out in person. ![]() --Doug |

I saw this movie maybe one day on TV, and I really liked it. No, it's not a good movie, in fact, even for its time it is quite silly and the ending is pretty much nonsense. But the atmosphere was fantastic. The writing was.. well, it was the kind of science-fiction story that we would make up as kids, and the special effects likewise had a charming childlike quality to them. They looked like what kids see with their inner eyes when they play some sci-fi story, with blankets, rocks and trees becoming alien landscapes, spaceships or monsters. |
