There are so many -- and the thread is bound to fill up fast -- that I'll just go with my most recent discovery: Published recently and drawing on newly available sources, it's an absolutely fascinating read. |

A Heart At Fire's Center by Steven Smith is so far the most interesting biography of a single film composer I've read. But in a more general way, all the books by Tony Thomas on the subject should be a good start. |

Thank you for the responses, I'll give those a try. I am currently reading the book "Torn Music" by Gergely Hubai, It's a history of rejected film scores. The Forward is written by Christopher Young who recommends it highly. |
