I don't think we've discussed this before and I'm curious about your holy grail cue. That is, the cue that was left off what might be an otherwise fine album. The first that jumps to my mind is the aggressive chase cue after Gene Hackman is shot in Under Fire. Totally unlike anything else in the score, which is probably why Goldsmith left it off the album. With many expanded editions in recent years, a lot of these cues have been made available. What else remains that is personal to you? |

One that comes to mind straight away is The Great Escape & that magical cue when they first arrive at the camp, At First Glance. I remember buying the LP about six months after seeing the film, playing it & thinking, where's that music? Well it was a bit of a wait, but I finally got it ![]() |

Okay, I know it's generally regarded as a lesser Goldsmith score, but one of my holy grail cues is from U.S. Marshals. The climactic music that accompanies the chase and fight between Tommy Lee Jones and Wesley Snipes on the freighter ship. Yeah, the score as a whole can be a little repetitive, so I think the OST is a good representation. But if they had just included that one last major cue, it would have made the OST perfect for me, enough so that I wouldn't even be needing an expanded edition. A few other cues that come to mind: the final dogfight from Air Force One (I believe this is one of Joel McNeely's cues), the first part of "Inside the Trailer" from The Lost World (which is mostly percussion, but I always liked the sound of it) and -- while it's a source cue -- the Nazi propaganda cartoon from The Rocketeer. In fact, you could probably write that one up as my #1 Holy Grail Cue, since Concord fulfilled some others when they released their expanded Indiana Jones box set. |

Block War (film version) from Judge Dredd (Alan Silvestri), which has a very rendition version of the Judge Dredd Theme. Alan Silvestri's awesomeness in all its glory! And many more moments like this in the movie... Please Doug & Roger, it's a Disney movie and it's been recorded in London... ![]() |

There used to be a quite a few holy grail cues, but many of them have been released since. But I do know one particular cue that was a holy grail cue for me: The Hunt (from Planet of the Apes) Why was this cue left of the original LP? Can't figure that one. ![]() |

Mine will be the shortest one!!! The 20 second coda at the end of TWILIGHT'S LAST GLEAMING by Jerry Goldsmith (after the End Title song). I've always loved that piece. It epitomises Jerry Goldsmith. |

I would say the biggest for me would have been the complete film versions of War from HOOK and The Day We Fight Back from ID4. Both masterpiece cues, IMHO. But both of those have been satisfied, thankfully! Someone else mentioned The Rocketeer and for me a piece I've really wanted to hear is when they are testing the rocket out. If I recall correctly I remember it being very different from the other moments in the score. Almost mickey-mousey. And while we are on Horner, I have to mention the complete film versions of another War titled cue from Avatar as well! And I'm sure many others will agree with me on hearing the music from the winter camp sequence when Madmartigan and Willow escape. Oh, please let it be with LucasFilm and Disney joining that opens the doors for Intrada! |

Just thought of a couple more. Short, but the hijacking cue and chateau flyover from Moonraker. |

That's a tough call when not counting song albums that only included one or two score cues. There are plenty of expansions that I would love to have, but I'm hard-pressed to immediately single-out specific missing cues that I'm dying for to such an extent as to call them "holy grails." I could have named a good number of them five years ago. |

Gads...how can I forget...the Main Title to Summer of '42? How do you do an album called "Summer of '42" and only include two cues from the score, both of which are source pieces. The five+ minute main title is gorgeous. |
