If the somewhat less than positive support for this composer is due to his scores for Alias, Lost and other TV & film work, I would not be in a position to agree or disagree. I am only familiar with Alias, and it has its moments, but as a whole not overly endearing. But certainly, one TV series score does not allow one to judge fairly.
Having said that, I am very familiar with his work for video games. Medal of Honor, Frontline, Secret Weapons Over Normandy, etc. This music is as good as anything out there IMO. Dramatic, lyrical, great choral additions. It has everything you would want in a score. I am not willing to say at this point how he will do down the road, but up til now, I am quite impressed with this side of his composing.
