Intrada Soundtrack Forum

I haven't consulted the booklet to see if it covers this issue (in fact I've misplaced it entirely), but one thing I noticed is that the track title names on the discs' track listings don't actually correspond to the music.

For example, the Disc 2 track titled "Explosive Truck" is emphatically not the music from the scene where the truck blows up. Instead, it's from the scene where Rinaldi (the soldier) gets implanted with the control device on the ship.

Likewise, the Disc 2 track "David and Ed Show Up" has two problems of its own. Firstly, it should be "George and Ed Show Up." David is the kid, George is his father who appears out of the bushes with Ed. Secondly, as before, the music in this track is not actually from that scene. Instead, the music corresponding to the scene of George and Ed appearing is actually featured on the nebulously titled first track of Disc 2, "Invaders from Mars."

And there are other examples where to be honest the music and track titles just don't correspond. What gives? All I can figure is that the arrangement represents Young and Storrs' original intentions before the music was swapped around in post-production, i.e. the music in the scene of Rinaldi being taken over was originally written for the truck scene, so the CD labels it as such?

Of course, this still doesn't explain why the one track title mistakenly refers to David's father by his name. Some explanation of this would be nice.

That is such a wonderful release, top notch.
Call me weird, but I love all of that score; those abstract soundscapes (and the musique concrète piece Young assembled) are far out and original.

I wasn't trying to criticize, merely asking. It's one of my absolute favorite Intrada purchases, anyway. Thanks for responding!

I did miss that release when it was released back in the days but have heard it since my brother has it and loved some cues that sounded very Goldsmith Ramboesque in i think Youngs score. I haven´t seen this at SAEs rarebin either but someday I might find it

I did have the chance to pick this one up when it was released. Being a fan of Tobe Hooper's movie, I hadn't hestitated about buying this CD immediatly! I'm glad I did.
