Am I being a bad JW fan when I say that I strongly prefer the wonderful new film score presentation of Rosewood over the album release? As presented on the first CD of the LaLa release, the score flows quite naturally and brims with powerful and moving ideas to a truly monumental climax. The album presentation, while I am sure it is true to Mr Williams's own conception of his piece, is to my ears a bit predictable and almost pandering, even distracting, in its inclusion of the gospel choral works (impeccably composed and arranged though they are by JW himself). The songs just seemed a bit on the nose, wholly appropriate though they might be to the film and its subject.
