Whoa... this one came out of nowhere for me: RISING SUN has gotten a well deserved expanded treatment. http://www.kritzerland.com/rising_sun.htm Considering that POLTERGEIST 2 was sold out in a flash even though it has been released several times before, I think it's a bit scary that there are only 1000 copies of this score released. I never had the original soundtrack recording, but Takemitsu's music as heard in the movie is excellent. |

Toru Takemitsu is such an exceptional composer, and Rising Sun his one contribution to a high-profile Hollywood studio production; I'm somewhat puzzled that this release has not generated more buzz. To me, this is one of the top releases this year. (And there have been a lot of excellent releases this year.) I have not even bothered to listen to a single sound clip, I am very much looking forward to listen to the full score. |

Great news! Count me in for this one. I am curious however -- does this release contain the additional music composed for Rising Sun by Richard Marriott? If so, is that among the extra cues added to this reissue? |

Received my copy today. Thanks to Mr. Kimmel for releasing this one, the announcement was a complete surprise (and while I'm at, o/t, but also thanks for releasing Donaggio's Berlin Affair, gorgeous score for an underrated film; happy to replace the LP!) I hope some copies of this CD find their way to Tower Records in Shinjuku and/or Shibuya (both housing an impressive selection of osts including Intrada, FSM, LLL, etc) or that word has gotten around enough for the hardcore Takemitsu fans on his home turf to visit the Kritzerland hp and pick up a copy
