Hello, everyone!
I posted this over on the Film Score Monthly forum, and figured I should post it here, as well, for any Manhattan or New York-based forum members. In any event, I wanted to let you know about a special memorial concert for Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, taking place on Monday, October 28th.
I'm one of the assistant conductors on it (not the one that's credited). The program consists entirely of American (and in at least one case, a World) premiere of Sir Richard's concert works for string orchestra (and soloists), including the brilliant, bravura "Concerto for Stan Getz," which'll be performed here by the wonderful soloist Eddie Daniels.
Of most interest to everyone here though, will be the "Suite from a Film Score," which consists of about eight minutes worth of material from his unused score for "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead." It's really fantastic music, and I'm thrilled to be involved with its first public hearing.
In any event, the concert is (as I said above) on Monday, October 28th at 7:30pm. It's at St. Peter's Church (Lexington Avenue and 54th Street), and is free to the public. (Free, why that's my favorite price!)

Scott Dunn is a brilliant conductor (and pianist) who knew and worked with Sir Richard for quite a while, and he really brings the music to tremendous life. I've been fortunate enough to work with Scott on a few concerts now, and am really pleased to be a part of this one.
So, come if you can, and if you spot me, be sure to say hello! (I'll be the one that looks like a "TheFamousEccles.")
