Ennio Morricone Vs. Patrick Doyle. Mel Gibson Vs. Kenneth Branagh. Which do you prefer? |

As far as which score I prefer, I'll have to pick Patrick Doyle |

Shostakovich ![]() Seriously, between those two my preference as an album would side with Doyle's score. |

The difference between the two versions -- despite both of them being very faithful to Shakespeare's play -- is enormous. Doyle's score is more romantic, stirring, more direct in its emotional sweep, Morricone's is more subtle, introspective, more contemplative and probing. Both are very good scores (and movies) and well worth listening to. |

Doyle by Far. Although speaking of movies, I love them both. Morricone's score... well... not so much. |

I love both but I am quite partial to the Morricone score, full of such darkness and longing. |
