Hello everyone, Please check this youtube video: It's a clip from an Argentinan telenovela, called: "La extraña dama" (pictured in early 90's). Starting at 02:58 there is a theme (that I personnaly cherish). The theme was not written for this show - I'm quite positive that is taken from a soundtrack (most probably American or Italian). The one problem being... I have no idea from which movie it is taken. If someone has any idea what is the original score I will thank him\her greatly!! Thanks in advance |

It's extremely reminiscent of one of the themes from the musical "Les Miserables". If it's not from that, it's a very close ripoff. |

It has nothing to do with Les Miz or any of its themes - there are three notes that are similar to I Dreamed a Dream, but that's it - it is not from Les Miz. |

There is a pronounced similarity to a theme that, if memory serves, is first heard in "Fantine's Death" (the one that begins with the lyric "Come to me"). It's more apparent when the telenovela theme repeats, from 3:33-4:04 -- and in fact, the stretch of melody from 3:42-3:58 is virtually identical to the one from LES MIS. Compare to 0:55-1:26 of this video: It's even in the same key, and plays at about the same tempo! Is this perhaps what you were thinking of, callmeal? |

The keyboard in the original example plays the same descending eighth note line at 3:57 - 3:59 that is sung in the Les Mis example from 1:21 - 1:23. It's an out and out slightly variable ripoff of the Les Miserable theme. Thanks for the specific example John. That's the theme I was referring to above. Sorry Bruce - I think there's too big a similarity there to say there's no comparison. |

Hi guys, I catually noticed this similarity a few years ago on a "dawson's creek" episode, when Joey sang it: However, after going through all of the themes from "Les Miserables", I found that this is not the score I was looking for... (Just as a remark, I'm really not sure which came first). I thank you all for the efforts so far, and if someone has another lead I'll be even more thankful. Thanks again. |
