What is your favorite unused/rejected score that has been released? |

While Craig Safan's unused Wolfen score is probably the one I've listened to most thus far (I have the promo and am still pondering if I should get the official release), I have really taken a liking to Goldsmith's moody score for 2 Days in the Valley. Intrada's 2 Days in the Valley release is a terrific album from beginning to end. |

Hard to say but the first track on Elmer Bernstein`s Last Man Standing soundtrack is one of my all time favorite single tracks by Elmer Bernstein, I just love that track. |

My favourite is Jerry Goldsmith's synth score to ALIEN NATION. I think it would have made the movie much better, than Curt Sobel's replacement score did. |

Both 2 Days in the Valley and Last Man Standing are great unused scores. I picked up Safan's unused score for Wolfen but have yet to listen to it. (I do like to have some unlistened to scores on the shelf for some special quiet time. Looking forward to it very much.) However, my favorite unused score may be Bernard Herrmann's score for TORN CURTAIN. |

Lalaland's expansion of John Williams' "Rosewood" score reminded me of Wynton Marsalis' rejected score for the same film. Anybody know it? It has a much firmer foot in a more period sound than Williams' version, but not nearly to the extent of Marsalis' music for, say, "Unforgiveable Blackness". I like both scores very much. I don't know the back story, but I assume the studio and/or filmmakers asked for an authentic period score without knowing precisely what that was, then freaked out when they heard it. Kind of like what almost happened to Michael Kamen on "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves", actually. |

Good question (but tough to narrow down to one!)...I don't think I've ever heard a bad rejected/unused score. I love Safan's Wolfen score, and on the Intrada wavelength, Rosenman's Last Hard Men & Young's Invaders From Mars. Hellraiser by Coil is a very interesting one, addictive even. Cliff Eidelman's Picture Bride is lovely. Can't go wrong with Donaggio's Ordeal By Innocence. Mention of Last Man Standing reminds me of the Bernstein box set from a while back collecting Natty Gann, Scarlet Letter and Gangs of NY. the list truly goes on & on... |

I guess my vote would go to Goldsmith's Legend. |

Since a lot of the good/great ones have been mentioned, I will add Marco Beltrami's unfinished score to Texas Rangers. Bad movie but Beltrami did a great job with the few minutes he was given. Too bad Harvey and Bob thought differently. |
