I am not into Jazz that much (except live performance) but one that jumps to my mind and is one I listen to quite often is Jerry Fieldings THE GAUNTLET. |

There are so many that I love. Quincy Jones' score for The Split is one that I cannot get enough of with its pure free-flowing nature. The Lost Man is another standout jazz-funk score by Jones. Dave Grusin's The Friends of Eddie Coyle, 3 Days of the Condor and Halls of Anger are all great. Some other obvious picks would have to be Lalo Schifrin's Bullitt and Once a Thief scores. There's also The French Connection by Don Ellis, Gold by Elmer Bernstein, Zigzag by Oliver Nelson, Petulia by John Barry, and so on. |

I never thought much of Jazz until I got into film score music. Even though I have several 70's scores that have that jazz with funk sound to them I think I prefer the old-school style jazz better. Such as: Johnny Cool The Man With the Golden Arm The Hustler Body Heat I Want to Live Walk on the Wild Side The Cincinnati Kid Chinatown Farewell my Lovely Baby Doll Staccato East Side/ West Side |
