I recieved the new "OZ The Great and Powerful" yestereday from Intrada and today was my first chance to crack it open to listen to it and I released I couldn't. Upon removing the sellophane I instinctfully sensed that something was odd with the CD Box as it felt strangely thin and was bowing in the middle. Upon closer examination I realised that the box was complete melted/welded together on three sides of the front (door) part of the box. In my near 30 years of purchasing CD's I have never encountered anything like it. I tried to pull it open but managed to distroy the box in the process. The Booket, the inner tray artwork and the CD seem to have survived their ordeal but my question is how does something like this happen. How can the box be so melted but the contents to be OK? Any Ideas? ![]() Oh by the way the CD is playing right now and sounds terrific. |

Hi Ford, I was just curious as to how the box could be manufactured to be so melted and for the contents to be still OK. I wasn't really complaining, just bamboozeled thats all. The smashed box is easily remedied at my end. Best regards Steve... |

I once worked at a place where CDs are manufactured and shrink wrapped. During the process of shrink wrapping the CDs are sent through what is basically an oven set at about 350 degrees. They go through fast, just a few quick seconds is all it takes. Sounds to me like the case and its contents got stuck, overcooked and overlooked. |

I must put my hand on my heart and admit that I have never seen the insides of a CD pressing plant. Thats my homework to check it out on youtube ![]() |
