This concerns a traditional folk song or "classical" piece of Russian music that has been quoted in at least 1 movie and 1 TV series that I know of, but I have no idea what its called or who composed it. I was wondering if anyone in the forum does? #1) Jerry Goldsmith quoted this tune in the 2nd Derek Flint movie "In Like Flint". It was during the part of the movie when Flint is in Russia and gets chased across the rooftops by the KGB. #2) Sylvester Levay quoted this tune several times in an episode of AirWolf entitled "Proof Through the Night". Hawk and Santini are sent in AirWolf to retrieve an American agent with a Russian family. It is sung as a folk ballad during the scenes in Russia and also receives a full orchestral statement at Hawk's mountain cabin at the end of the episode. Any ideas?? Thanks. |

Without seeing the scenes again, it seems that you are referring to "Polyushko Polye." |

Bullseye!! ![]() Thanks T.Newman Fan! I've already found several recordings of this tune posted on YouTube-- both vocal and instrumental. Now, if I can only find the English translation of the Russian lyrics.... Nevermind.... found them via Wikipedia..... this internet thing might actually turn out to be a good thing! ![]() |
