I'd have to say either Charles Bernstein's Cujo or Pino Donaggio's Carrie. Each score is phenomenal at capturing both the frightening and poignant aspects of their film's main character. For a fun "guilty pleasure," I'm partial towards Alan Silvestri's Cat's Eye. |

I think Goldenthal's music for Pet Sematary is genuinely creepy and heart-wrenching. Shaiman did a fine job on Misery, too. |

Two immediately come to mind: CAT'S EYE by Alan Silvestri, which is one of his earliest all-electronic efforts, and Harry Sukman's epic score for SALEM'S LOT. The Silvestri originally came out on LP, and the Sukman score only through questionable cd sources. |

Lots of goodness here. Kamen's DEAD ZONE, Donaggio's CARRIE, Goldenthal's PET SEMETARY, are all personal favorites... |

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (Thomas Newman) is a favorite of mine, as is THE DEAD ZONE (Michael Kamen). |

I've always liked Pino Donaggio's Carrie but I have to say, the songs make me cringe. No one has mentioned The Stand (W.G. "Snuffy" Walden), I have a copy, haven't listened to it yet. What's the verdict from those who have? |

One of my favourites has to be Danny Elfman's score for "Dolores Claiborne" - beautiful, dark, mysterious and sad. It has some gorgeous string work. I remember, back in the day, it was a real eye opener for me in terms of how I perceived Elfman, and quite a change of pace from the many 'superhero' assignments he'd tackled in wake of Batman - Darkman and Dick Tracy etc. |
