Thanks a lot for clearing up one more interesting piece of the Conan-soundtrack legacy.

Hey all, Had posted this in someone else's thread, but Doug made it clear (and I agree) that he did not like the use of the word "error" in that thread's title. So I am reposting here in its own thread, if that's okay. My question is about the remastered version of "The Orgy" (not from the original album)... it appears to be missing some big splashy percussion near the end of the piece, or maybe an alternate take or mix. Anyone know the whys and the whats of this? Missing overlays maybe? Someone else had mentioned a bit of percussion being "missing" from the end of Atlantean Sword as well, so maybe this is related? I'm certainly not bitching since the other versions of these cues are right there on disc three. Just curious, as Conan is my favorite score of all time and I'm always interested to learn more about it. Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this! Matt |

I think (and this is only my opinion) that Poledouris wrote it as performed on the CD but the musiceditors in the movie might have added some stuff later on to the movie. I know that happened on a few other movies to without composerd even knowing about it, so this might have been a producer/director choice that wasn´t something Basil ever recorded himself... Maybe a possible scenario and wasn´t this something that happened to one of the Rocky scores (Part 4 i think acording to DiCola himself) |

Maybe, but that wouldn't explain how those overlays ended up on the original album presentation... prepared and approved by Poledouris himself. Would it? |

Thank you so much for shedding some light on this, Doug. Interesting stuff. Once again, the Conan set is a dream come true. I am extraordinarily grateful to have it complete, and perfect after all these years. |
