Ok. Stick with soundtracks here. Not your ten best. Not your five favorites. Just one. Only one. If you were forced onto that proverbial island with just one soundtrack to play for the rest of your life, what would it be? You'll be hearing it over and over and you'll never hear anything else again. Something gently soothing? Nostalgic? Forceful and dynamic?

Just one, my friends. Just one. Explanations aren't important here. We all have our reasons. But what would that one title be?

Mine would be In Harm's Way.

Yours would be... ?

I can't narrow it to one, so, just drop me off mid ocean instead of the island. And I leave all my CD's to nobody.

Thinking about it some more, Morricone's Days of Heaven would probably be the strongest contender. I seem to never tire of this score, especially as presented by FSM.

HA! Suckers. You didn't think of it first. Now I got the first-row ticket to not being dropped off at that island.

My choice:

"Holly vs. Hollywood"

Does this include a Sony CD Walkman with a lifetime supply of double A batteries?

The Bride Of Frankenstein (Franz Waxman)

Ooo, just the one is tough, if this was over at the FSM forum people would be listing 15-20 titles, they just can't help themselves. The choice has to have passed the test of time & not something you've only liked for a few years (or even 30 years!). I'm tempted by Orbital's great choice, it's my favorite Morricone western score, I just LOVE it & never tire of it, & that great double CD gets lots of plays, & will for the rest of my life. But my choice has to be:

The album version of, IN LIKE FLINT Jerry Goldsmith. I can still remember buying the LP in HMV Oxford Street in 1967(the biggest record shop in the world, they said). I was trying to buy Our Man Flint, but they didn't have it, but from the first needle drop of In Like Flint I was in love with it, that spacy sound (the only way I can think of to discribe it), & it's still as cool as a cucumber, & so elegant. And unlike many LP's I bought at the time, I still love it. And those were great days for me, which doesn't hurt.

Very... hard... to... choose... only... one.

Now, I would choose E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial by John Williams too.
