I think this is [i]new[/] territory, and the labels are feeling it out as they go.
We have about a dozen prominent specialty labels, some making new releases every two weeks, and half of them releasing popular titles, and we also have studios that are giving us access ten years ago were only our fevered nerdy wet dreams, all in one flooded conflux of limited editions, in a market who's primary consumers are in two nations that aren't doing financially very well, with one heading steadily toward hyper inflation.
I suspect, though this is merely guessing, that behind the scenes, some label heads are communicating with each other on release dates so not as to clash in a thunder orgy of wallet-crushing limited edition CD goodness, or steal another's thunder unless it really, really can't be helped. I suspect Crom will be stealing thunder Monday.

I think in the beginning of this is worked out, but now it's like the martian and Duck Dodgers standing on the crumb of a planet shoving each other saying, "This niche market isn't big enough for the two of us!". Well, maybe not that far. At least until the Illudium Q-36 Space Modulator gets invented, then all bets are off.
If FSM hadn't been around and was just now thinking about starting up, Lukas might take one look at the oversaturated market and economic circumstances, and do something else.
