It's not even available yet as we've still got last minute stuff to do with it... but CONAN seems anxiously awaited for by a lot of people. Yeah, we figured it would be, of course. But it's not the second coming. A lot of fantastic scores are coming our way lately. STAR TREK, BODY HEAT, THE SHADOW, whatever. All sorts of goodies. CONAN is one of the greats, yes. But I also know we have a tough crowd to please. Someone will surely mention an odd crossfade they object to and whatnot.
So I humbly offer to you dear listeners the following note. I've put this one together for me as well as you. I'm rather fond of this music, too. And... I have one connection that keeps this one personal.
As our first customers will recall, the Intrada label started with RED DAWN, a WWIII actioner scored by Basil and directed by John Milius shortly after they finished making CONAN together. What is lesser known is that Regina, now Intrada's production supervisor, was only five weeks old when Mary Ann and I first met Basil on the MGM scoring stage to mix our record. Yes, baby Regina was with us, of course. She charmed Basil and he carried her around in his arms, rocking her for a few moments. She fell asleep and we took pictures for our photo album. Needless to say, those pictures of Basil with my new baby daughter carry personal weight with me today.
Yep. I look at Regina now, I see Basil rocking her still.
