does anyone know where I can find the lyrics of the song "The Last Run", on music by Jerry Goldsmith?

Just listening to this song via the FSM release, I was able to interpret the following lyrics by Mack David & Mike Curb:

Marilyn & Alan Bergman's Easy Baby from 99 & 44/100% Dead is one of my favorites. I have a hard time with some of those A&M Bergman songs, "Sugar In The Rain" from Stiletto makes me cringe. Easy Baby is a hoot, maybe I like it so much because stuff like that is considered "politically incorrect" by whatever twit or twat might want to object to the creative voice of another.

Neal Hefti's Girl Talk from Harlow is another song I like. Very popular song in it's day, Tony Bennett recorded it for his Movie Songs album. Some online reviewer recently referred to the song as "politically incorrect". Go blow your nose, screwball. Lonely Girl from the same film I also like. The lyrics of both songs are rooted in a more natural realism and were written during a time when a person didn't need to worry about pandering to or sidestepping any number of screwballs with some personal bias or agenda. There's nothing bad about those two songs, great, well written compositions by a person with more talent in one finger than anyone who would object will ever have in an entire lifetime of pretending.

This has evolved into a sensational topic!

I find it easy to think of timeless movie songs drawn from timeless scores ("Moon River", "Born Free", "Goldfinger", "Charade" and whatnot) but harder to think of favorites irregardless of the fame. "The Last Run" is a good example.

My favorites are all over the map but lean towards what I grew up with. I adore "The Wishing Star" (Franz Waxman/Mack David) from TARAS BULBA and place it in my top ten, probably as number one. "To Sir With Love" was mentioned earlier in this topic and it's in my top ten as well.

The others might be: "Cream Puff", a wonderful intermezzo to Mancini's MR. HOBBS TAKES A VACATION, "When You're Alone" from HOOK, "I Will Follow", the lyrics added to Goldsmith's STAGECOACH theme for the original album, "The Ballad of the Gunfight at the OK Corral" that weaves throughout Tiomkin's score, the title song from GOLD, "Dust To Dust", the lyrics added to Hefti's theme for DUEL AT DIABLO, "Only Good Times" (Three Friends Theme) from BIG WEDNESDAY and probably the closing song drawn from Newman's theme to HOW THE WEST WAS WON.

And here's an oddball honorable mention, said with levity of sorts: "The Homecoming" from FIRST BLOOD is my number one all-time favorite Goldsmith melody but the lyrics to its companion song ("It's A Long Road") have long since penetrated into my brain whether I want to hear them or not.

I actually wrote some lyrics -- never finished, to a score. I think it very fitting to finish it and post it here at Intrada -- for reasons that will become clear when I do.

THE PRISONER

The Great Dreamer and Lord Send An Angel Down from Riz Ortolani's Christopher Columbus are two I've always liked. Both are full of good human emotion, without any sort of self pity and very potent in tapping into emotional sensibilities. Really do like those two songs, the score is one of my favorites.
