...and which can you recommend? I myself bought (so far). Max is 6 ***** (my personal taste and nothing else ![]() - THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN **** James Horner - JOHN CARTER ***** Michael Giacchino - THE AVENGERS **** Alan Silvestri - BRAVE *** Patrick Doyle - THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (on Vinyl LP) *** (the music) / ***** (for the packaging) Hans Zimmer - DARK SHADOWS *** Danny Elfman - GAME OF THRONES - Season 2 (HBO series) **** Ramin Djawadi - MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL **** Michael Giacchino Not that much actually. I mostly buy the "old" stuff from Intrada, FSM and LALA. From the new films my favorite so far is JOHN CARTER. Maybe Newmans take on Bond with SKYFALL, Shores THE HOBBIT and Willimas LINCOLN can change that... What are yours? Phil |

I bought quite a few, but James Newton Howard's score for Snow White and the Huntsman was a pleasant surprise for me. Lots of intense action (although too raucous at times) mixed with some serene beauty. The Florence + the Machine song is pretty good as well. |

The Avengers (Alan Silvestri) ***** Brave (Patrick Doyle) **** Mirror Mirror (Alan Menken) **** The Amazing Spider-Man (James Horner) ***** The Mysterious Island (Andrew Lockington) ***** John Carter (Michael Giacchino) ***** Mission Impossible 4 (Michael Giacchino) **** Very good scores this year so far ! Michael Giacchino is still on the top of the game. The veterans Silvestri and Horner brillantly show how 80's composers can handle a 2010's movie. Andrew Lockington creates the surprise with a big bombastic adventure score ! Doyle and Menken use their talents in Disney fantasies... |

WAR HORSE was a 2011 release, but if it is 2012, add me to the count ! Splendid dramatic score ! John Williams is the god of film music. |

I bought a used promo copy of John Carter (Michael Giacchino) for $5.00. ![]() Really not into real recent stuff, I'm just anti-social in that way. In ten years I'll become interested in the film music of 2012, but hey, John Carter score is damn good. |
