A long while back I tried here to see if anyone could help me find a piece of music from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. In that movie it plays in the dining room scene. It also plays in the dining room scene in a move called O. Henry's Full House--The Clarion Call segment. I just watched another 20th Century Fox movie called The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing and it also plays in the dining room scene. The scene opens with Mr. White and his wife in a restaurant. He asks the orchestra to play a song for his wife. They oblige. Then, Mr. Thaw comes in and finds his table has been given to White. He gets angry and the orchestra stops playing and then starts again with a waltz. It is that waltz that I am looking for. Intrada released a score for this movie but for some reason did not include that waltz. How can I find out why and if they at least know what it's called or if it was released on some other soundtrack (which might be why the omitted it here)? I REALLY NEED THAT SONG! Please, if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks. |

I don't know what it is, but it's not uncommon for a label to forgo source music that is not an original composition by the film's composer. The link below is to the IMDB soundtrack page for the film The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing. Search each listed piece of music in YouTube to see if one of them is the waltz you're looking for. |

If it helps anyone, I found it again! The White Cliffs of Dover. Played in a scene where Irene Dunn and her husband meet during World War I while he has leave. They are in a hotel and, yes, you guessed it, just after having had dinner, the song is played by a band on the bandstand outside the hotel. The husband asks, "What is the that song?" and she replies, "I don't know, but it somehow seems appropriate, doesn't it?" or something to that effect. I can't even find that scene on YouTube and I can't find any references to waltzes popular during WWI. I did find a listing of the songs in that movie but that one wasn't there, just like before. |
