Not that I personally want another release of them, but I recall someone from one of the labels confirming that Goldsmith's Legend, Supergirl and First Blood II are now all controlled by Silva in perpetuity. Perhaps Roger can shed further light for those who want these titles revisited.

Thanks for answering my questions Roger. If you're feeling really generous here are a couple follow-ups:

1. Are any of the Goldsmith releases two-disc sets or are all three on one disc each?

2. Is there something to the fact that you originally mentioned 5-6 titles, and then revised it to 5?

I also found it interesting that you say that the next five are paired on three releases, but obviously mathematically speaking one of them can't be paired...at least, not paired with another Goldsmith title. Is Goldsmith sharing space with another composer on one of these, or was that sentence just a victim of phrasing in the English language?

It is good to know that the Flint LPs will likely be paired. I understand that each album is short and expected to be paired with the other, but you never know as the Jerry Goldsmith name can be exploited more than any other composer.

One could be a pairing of the Flint re-recordings, remastered (since Varese owns the original recordings in perpetuity).

The other could be a replacement score paired with a rejectd score.

Three pairings! Two left to solve.

THE PRISONER

The ones being discussed here I would find most interesting are PETER PROUD and THE SALAMANDER. PETER PROUD is not a horror film, it is a supernatural tragedy, and Goldsmith gets that--there is a feel in the theme [opening and end titles] of a tragic inevitability, a cycle that couldn`t be broken. The electronics used throughout are very effective, creating a disturbing undertow, so to speak.The brief suspense/action stuff is typical 70s JG and very good, but the dominant material is eerie and impending.......THE SALAMANDER is a hidden gem, a kind of hybrid of moments from CASSANDRA CROSSING and FINAL CONFLICT [and one cue that sounds a LOT like later Horner `spiritual` material].

I'm thinking the mysterious "5-6 titles" means that number 5 is the RIO CONCHOS re-recording and maybe or maybe not you can consider number 6 as a pairing with THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY documentary-esque prologue. That way you get 5 paired titles!

I'm really looking forward to them all. I buy everything with Goldsmith's name on it, for obvious reasons. Psycho II is a favorite of mine--just a breathtakingly beautiful main theme.
