Weird topic, I know. Has anyone noticed that Fred Walton seems to enjoy using crickets in his films? There's When a Stranger Calls, April Fool's Day, I Saw What You Did and When a Stranger Calls Back. All of them make frequent use of crickets, especially April Fool's Day and I Saw What You Did. Also, with the exception of April Fool's Day, which was Charles Bernstein, Fred Walton seems to really like using Dana Kaproff for his film scores. Is it typical for a director to be drawn to certain sound effects? Walton also seems to use clocks quite often. As for the Walton/Kaproff thing, I guess they became friends and it was decided that he likes his work enough to use him repeatedly?
