Here's what I have to start:

Sonar 8.5 Producer(has a video thumbnail track - useful or just an afterthought on Cakewalk's part?) w/z3ta+ 2, Rapture LE, Pentagon 1, etc...

about a zillion freeware VSTi & VSTfx

Lots of samples, loops, etc., in all styles

Garritan Personal Orchestra 4(just purchased a minute ago)

Lexicon Alpha interface

Sony Vaio laptop i3 2.53Ghz 4gb RAM. No special video card, just stock(I spent that money on the 7200rpm internal and external hard drives).

I saw this on sale, looks like a good deal:

Also, there's this:

Do I really need either of these two? I'm thinking of buying one or the other. Which do I need more? What hasn't occurred to me yet? I don't know anything about editing video or what product is better than another for it.

I've read some numbers, depends on what kind of quality music you want to create.

Just the other day I read between the samples, computers (three or more), and other fees, a fairly professional set up would probably cost you somewhre around, probably higher, $20,000.
