If a CD with a limited edition run shows up in the store as "out of stock" but doesn't say "sold out", does that mean that the discs are still being pressed or haven't been delivered yet? I assume if it is truly sold out then the order button wouldn't even be active, correct?

Hello + welcome to the forum 8)

I take it you're referring to the new Predator CD?

Intrada are taking orders and they will start shipping within the next couple of weeks. My advice would be to get your order in asap because these will fly off the shelves...quite literally.

Ha...good guess. Thanks! But I was referring to Rozsa's Ben Hur and Jarre's Walk in the Clouds, both of which show out of stock but still allow you to add them to the shopping cart. I would think if they were sold out that the order button would be grayed out or gone entirely?

You've probably figured this out by now....but not all soundtracks contained in the Intrada shop were actually produced by Intrada. From what I can gather, each label (LaLaLand, FSM, BSX etc) help each other out by promoting each others CD's. Whenever I search for soundtracks I always visit - Intrada, LaLaLand, FilmScoreMonthly, Varese, BSX etc).

The reason why the Intrada store shows both soundtracks as 'out of stock' might be due to the fact the respective labels (FSM and LaLaLand Records) have only just started shipping them. It might be a case of Intrada are waiting for their own supplies to come in. You might want to email Intrada to ask them for an update.

If time is of the essence...then really the option you have is to buy them directly from the label that produced them:

Ben-Hur (FilmScoreMonthly) http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/cds/det ... 4/Ben-Hur/

Walk In The Clouds (LaLaLand) http://www.lalalandrecords.com/Walk.html

Hope that helps....

Well, it depends on the availability from the releasing label, which in this case is not Intrada.
All stores just receive shipments from the distributor and if anything gets out of stock, it has nothing to do with being sold out and it only suggests the store has not received the new shipment after they sold the previous one. They can get some or they can't, which obviously depends on whether or not is the CD still available from the label that released it and if the demand is high enough to request more copies.

Anyway, A Walk in the Clouds is safe as there is hopefully enough copies from LLL still available, Ben Hur would be sold out as Intrada was the last store that had some copies available after it was sold out at SAE and before Lukas Kendall decided to cheat his customers again and repress more copies than intially announced and despite his own word on the topic that there won't be any more copies available after all 2000 of them is sold.

I for one am glad that people were "cheated." I can now buy that magnificent set when it makes financial sense.

He simply misjudged demand, and now his and other people's hard work can be further rewarded while more consumers can be rewarded by listening to Rózsa's magnum opus in as good of a treatment as one could imagine.

And take into account the post a while back where Lukas said he's pressed more before, pressing more now, and would do so as he could or titles demanded in the future. No one should be shopcked or feel cheated.

Oh, and if that doesn't work for you:

Well the market has changed a bit in the last few years. It used to be; buy that limited edition fast, or it'll be sold out & too expensive to re-press (AFM fees). Now it seems the rules have changed & titles are re-released, & a good thing, it's more about buying the music you want, & less about owning something that not many other people have. And good on Intrada for doing away with limited numbers.

Studios and the AFM changed.

I still can't believe there are people who bitch and moan about re-pressings and doing away with Limited Editions. They certainly wouldn't be complaining if THEY were the ones that got to the online stores too late and lost out on the chances to get great music, and let's face it: It's all great music!

I was lucky to get to Ben-Hur before it sold out but I applaud Lukas for his decision to repress the discs. BH is a truly epic and remarkable work, one of the absolute best. Everybody who knows something about film music needs to own a copy. It was the blue print for many great scores to come. I was one who questioned such limited pressings (2000) when I first heard it was to be released.
And a HUGE thank you to Intrada for, as a previous poster said, doing away with the numbers. Now we cal all enjoy these marvelous score!
It's not about who has what edition that someone else doesn't have - it's about the effing music, people! Got it? Good. Carry on!

In addition to the old saying:

"You can make some of the people happy some of the time, you can make all of the people happy some of the time, but you can't make all the people happy all of the time"

I add:

"But there will always be some of the people to bitch bitch bitch all of the time."

People who make a habit of complaining about things that really don't matter most likely have nothing really serious going on in their lives to think about. I say screw 'em, they should collect bubble gum cards. What's this thread about anyway? Haven't even read it in complete, just read a few lines about petty bickering and petty bickering I don't like, especially taking into consideration all the real horseshit in the world worth taking a stand against. It's like the halfwits at the FSM board who made a habit of complaining about me when I have the wisdom to overlook most of their snipes and chicken feed.

Skaaa-roooo 'em!
