Hi all, I've been on a mission to bulk-up my soundtrack collection for the past couple of months. I was wondering if you could recommend any essential/must-have Jerry Goldsmith albums? |

Now there's a huge matter of opinion. But: "Rudy" "The Wind and the Lion" "Patton" "First Blood" For starters. |

Planet of the Apes Patton Capricorn One First Blood Gremlins Hoosiers First Knight I think that's a good sampling of Goldsmith's masterworks for anyone who has an anemic collection of his scores. |

Agree with the list so far...but I would add Night Crossing and Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend....definately on my most wanted list and kicking myself that I missed out on them when they came out. |

What the hell is Star Trek? ![]() If I were to branch-out my recommendations a bit, then I would definitely include Star Trek, The Final Conflict and Under Fire. The problem with making Goldsmith recommendations is that there's an overwhelming number of albums one can consider essential for those who have expansive tastes in music. |

Difficult to have the essential Goldsmith albums, because everyone have his own favorite. If you want the most well-known titles that people always talk about, I would say : Papillon, Planet of the Apes, Alien, The Boys from Brazil, Island in the Sreams, Basic Instinct, etc. If you want my own classics, I would go for : The Blue Max, Patton, The Omen, Star Trek, Poltergeist, The Secret of NIMH, The Rambo Trilogy, Gremlins, Supergirl, King Solomon's Mines, Explorers, Legend, Innerspace, Total Recall, Forever Young, Bad Girls, First Knight, Powder, Mulan, Small Soldiers, The Mummy, Timeline,... I know I don't help ! ^^ |

Some that are essential for me, apart from the ones usually mentioned: COMA DAMIEN: OMEN II RAGGEDY MAN Ultimately his best period for me was from THE OMEN to LEGEND or so, where he could absolutely do no wrong. |
