INTRADA Announces: A TROLL IN CENTRAL PARK Music Composed and Conducted by ROBERT FOLK INTRADA Special Collection Vol. 195 For the 1994 animated feature A Troll in Central Park, Don Bluth and Gary Goldman sought a colorful, imaginative score and engaged composer Robert Folk, who in turn delivered a rollercoaster ride for large orchestra and both chorus and boys' choir. Folk's primary emphasis is on action and dazzling pace, while bringing a considerable degree of cohesion to his score. Folk was asked to call upon his classical chops for the score. “I think animation is the perfect musical landscape for classical training,” he says. “Animated films tend to get big orchestral scores, with choir. The personality and character of the themes get to reflect the children’s world a little more, so you get to be ethereal and dreamlike, and speak to the elements of magic. In most live action films you have to subordinate what you’re doing.” Working from complete digital two-track stereo scoring session mixes, including all of the choral overdubs, Intrada presents this powerhouse score in it's entirety, including one song. A Troll in Central Park is the tale of a friendly troll named Stanley. Endowed with a green thumb able to produce flowers from stone, Stanley (voiced by Dom DeLuise) dreams of a world made of good deeds and Edenic vegetation. Because of his good nature and illegal gardening, he is banished from the Kingdom of the Trolls to the famous New York City park. There, he meets young Gus and his little sister Rosie. Stanley attempts to teach a wayward Gus the power of dreaming, but only after the evil troll queen Gnorga kidnaps Rosie, turns Gus into a troll and is finally vanquished does Gus learn the superior magic of all things good and green. Another awesome release! There is definitely a shortage of Robert Folk albums out there, so this is a very welcome release, for sure. ![]() ~ Oz |

Wow! Great music, great composer, great CD and artwork! Thanks to Intrada for rescuing such fantastic music, Sikoryak for knowing how to illustrate the nuances and provide us with class-A artwork, Robert Folk for writing such beautifully enchanting music and having a career of brilliant highlights. Equal appreciation to the Irish Film Orchestras for playing it so well. Thanks to Don Bluth and Gary Goldman for such a fantastic little picture and of course thank you to 20th Century Fox for financing it and licensing this great release for us fans! ![]() |

Yes! I didn't even know this was a possibility for release, but I ain't mad one bit. Cartoon scores need love too, and the addiction.. I mean the addition of another Folk entry is always welcome. Viva la animation!!!! |

I love animation music, and I have always been amazed how much Robert Folk writes gorgeous music without anybody even noticing it... I've ordered A Troll and There Be Dragons together. Let's celebrate a very underestimated film composer ! |

Oh WOW! This is a dream come true. I'm one of the few who actually liked that anime, despite the animation being a step down compared to other Bluth-Goldman Masterpieces. Robert Folk was the perfect choice! This guy KNOWS how to write terrific melodies... perfect choice for an anime (as much as Horner for his "anime period"). Again, Intrada, you made my year with this release!... and so cool to have kept the cover art! |

Great to see Intrada have not forgotten Robert Folk. It was Intrada's early Folk releases that got me interested in this underated composer. Also pleasing to see he has a new score out too. |

Fastest delivery ever for me as well (received yesterday) and the score is awesome as planned. Thank you Intrada ! But the most impressive surprise of my order is There Be Dragons. This is a very powerful melody driven, latinor flavored, big symphonic score. There is no flat moment, evreything is beautiful : warm and tender guitar, sweeping chords, shiny brasses, mesmerizing choirs. Robert Folk makes a triumphant return ![]() |

Got my copy yesterday. Have listened to it almost non-stop. Wonderful music. Too bad however that the songs couldn't be included. |
