Two really great but very subtle and little known (and remembered) orchestral scores by Miles Goodman from the 80's films Footloose and La Bamba were always favorites of mine. They weren't much more than incidental music to add layer and depth to emotionally heavy scenes but gosh, they were really great. Any chance of these scores finding their way onto a Best of Miles Goodman release or something akin to that? There are definitely more sought after and profitable releases that warrant pursuing and spending budget money on to get released but geeez, so many little gems from the 80's that deserve some kind of life. Goodman was such an incredible musician and taken from us waaaaay too soon. Thoughts anyone? |

I honestly think there's plenty of Miles Goodman scores that are really worthy of being released. Footloose barely had any score, but I do remember him being part of the songwriting process in that one and Teen Wolf. I honestly would rather have his terrific scores for The Man Who Wasn't There from 1983, Table For Five (which he co-wrote with John Morris), Indian Summer, Housesitter, What About Bob?. He Said/She Said and most people do want his rejected score for The Indian In The Cupboard. MV over at LaLaLand definitely wanted to release his fun score to Real Men, but the tapes are sadly lost at the moment. I hope they find those because that's one heck of a fun score. Miles Goodman definitely deserves a few albums of his own and hopefully some label will pick up the slack on that. |
