After 32 years of uncertainty, maybe someone here can finally clear this up. I'd always heard that Williams just basically rewrote Louis Prima's Sing, Sing, Sing, but I just listened to that on youtube, and it definitely doesn't sound anything like that. So, is Swing, Swing, Swing, a totally ORIGINAL Williams composition, or is there more to the story? |

It's an original composition in the Sing Sing Sing style. I remember an interview in which he said he wanted to compose his own Sing Sing Sing and called it Swing Swing Swing, more like an hommage to Louis Prima and the Swing in general. |

It's a great homage to the original piece, with overall the same form and instrumentation but definitely Williams's own take on the original. I think it's absolutely brilliant and a real highlight of the score. The fact that JW named it Swing, Swing, Swing lets you know he was of course well aware that he was writing a pastiche of a previous piece. |
