You know, I can't help but wonder what Broughton would have done with "Cowboys & Aliens"....
I might have actually seen the movie if he scored it!

As a new member to the forum, I would first like to thank the staff at Intrada for the number of years they have provided excellent product and service for us filmscore enthusiasts. I have been a customer since I can remember. I especially give congrats to the great working relationship they have obviously maintained with composer Bruce Broughton. The number of his releases bearing the Intrada label has been outstanding and what more could we ask for with the 5-disc promo release in 1999, the Young Sherlock Holmes promo, and more recently, Tombstone. Now my wish, if miracles do happen. Will we ever see a commercial release to Broughton's score to the TV mini-series, The Blue and the Grey??? What an outstanding score, and what a great main title. Emotionally moving and lyrical, with a military-like fanfare in the beginning and end. This has to rate as one of the biggest missed opportunities for his fans. To hear this score on a regular basis rather than to watched the DVD's of the series. The only place I have seen any of the score, was on a 2-CD Best of the West compilation on a German import label, Edel. There were 3 tracks totaling 9 minutes and performed by the Czech Symphony Orchestra under William Motzing. What are the chances of Intrada or anyone securing the rights. Doug, what are your thoughts and anyone else. Look forward to hearing what you think and also to hopefully becoming a regular forum participant. Thanks for listening. |
