Thanks again for a great review. Already had gotten my copy (hmmm, wasted no time on that one) and have listened to it a couple of times. Yes, BP is sorely missed. Thanks to Intrada for releasing several of his scores the last couple of years. |

Thanks to you guys for supporting it as well. I know it's old news, but just for reminders sake... Basil was the first composer I actually contacted when I started this label just over 25 years ago. I'd worked an agreement with MGM for the rights to do RED DAWN, phoned Basil - and found him to be warm, enthusiastic... and surprised anyone would put up the money to release the soundtrack. (That was before any AFM historic rates policies were around.) Basil invited me, my wife and my newly born eight-week old daughter Regina to stay at his home for a spell while we mixed and edited the album at MGM's studios, which are now Sony's. A picture of Basil holding baby Regina tops my list of composer photos... and, yes, can still bring a tear to my eye. --Doug |

I can never get tired of that story myself and without Basil there wouldn't be Intrada. So if you look at it in this sense, every and any release of Basil's is a treasure not just to the label, but to soundtrack lovers and fans of music in general. All of his releases should be an event and I do hope one day that my favorite score of his Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man gets a sorely needed release. But Doug always keep up the great work and finding more of Basil's music to release as well as every composer that deserves one. |
