This must be a reference to THE LONELY PASSION OF JUDITH HEARNE. I didn't realize I was sitting on a gold mine. There is a re-recording of this score, but I suspect it doesn't pack the emotional whallop of Delerue's original. Out of curiosity, what Delerue scores are considered highly collectable? b. |

[quote="Dorian No Bob, the reference is actually to LE COMPLOT (TO KILL A PRIEST here on Intrada pages). But JUDITH HEARNE is surely no much less rare than this one. /quote] I am listening to LE COMPLOT. The Joan Baez song, "Crimes of Cain," is another resistance song, similar to Morricone's collaboration with Baez (SACCO e VANZETTI) with a lot of personal appeal to me. It strikes me that both composers adapted their compositional technique to the range of Baez's voice, much as Howard Shore did to Annie Lennox in RETURN OF THE KING. Delerue's DIEN BIEN PHU is worth acquiring, also. An unreleased Delerue score, at least on CD, (available on a Milan lp) I would like to get is from the Costa-Gavras film, CONSEIL DE FAMILLE. I remember liking the cello writing in this score. I might have about 60 Delerue CDs in my collection. b. |

Dien Bien Phu is a great score but I'd not say it is among the most expensive ones... I bought a copy a couple of months ago for about 50 USD which is very similar to the price of others Delerue CDs such as A Summer Story and Steel Magnolias or Crimes of the Heart... From the LP stuff I would appreciate the releases of L'Africain, Femmes de Personne, Preparez Vos Mouchoirs, Le Bon Plaisir and Interlude... I am very happy Varese finally released Viva Maria, Almost Perfect Affair and especially True Confessions which is one of my favorite Delerue scores... |
