Quote from Doug Fake: Since it's been mentioned... yes, we have already transferred and mixed the actual 2" 24-track session masters for Kamen's powerful score to ROAD HOUSE. The master elements appear complete except we can't locate one reel containing all of the takes for "Final Showdown", which is the major action set piece at the end when Swayze takes on Gazzara. We even tried to locate the cue through via original engineer (Stephen McLaughlin) but no such luck. But we have everything else, including the great fight scene between Swayze and Gazzara's son, which is dynamite. I guess a mini-poll is in order: would you guys support a limited release of this score knowing it would be mostly complete but wouldn't have the climactic cue? If it were just a lesser cue, we'd have issued it already, but it's a major cue. Anyway, we've already invested a lot of money with MGM and I've already made brand new digital mixes. I'd sure like to recoup that investment. The sound quality is incredible... just not complete. Your thoughts... good or not so good? --Doug Think that we should have a poll in order to gauge our collective responses. Barring the New York cd that was released last year there has not been a Michael Kamen release for a number of years. Whilst I do understand certain trepidations that the major set piece might not be there it is better to have 80% (guesstimate!) of the release than none at all. ![]() If the missing reel is ever found then this could be made available at a later stage. I would most certaintly welcome this Intrada treatment of a Michael Kamen score will definitely purchase this cd in its present form. The FSM board has also engaged in discussions surrounding this. Regards all, Conte |

People have already been responding to Doug in the thread that he originally posted in. Why create another? |

Something tells me Doug and Roger are perfectly capable of sorting out the Roadhouse posts from the Greystoke ones ![]() |

I vote for releasing Road House asap, as Intrada has surely tried every door possible that they can think of as of now and haven´t found that last reel... If it will surface later, I´ll happily doubledipp then, but would like to hear what has been found as soon as possible... |

It´s ridiculous to say keep looking for 6 more months...what good will it do if they maybe have tried looking for it for 2-3 years already? Six more months might not do anything and they may lose the right to release it... Release it for the Kamen fans (maybe with a 1500-2000 prints) and dont listen to the once who only wants it complete for complete sake... Me I want to listen to Kamens music and its sad it isn´t complete but better some music than nothing. As I said, the true fans of it will surely buy it again in 2-3? years If that reel is found then... I know i will and for those that wont give them the download option on demand...if they don´t want that either, I say like Cartman "Screw You" ![]() and boys: |

I will buy one no matter what it's missing! If they find the tracks and release another version later, I'll buy that one also. Bring it on!!!!!! |

I say release it now because of two things: 1, If you find it later, what says that you can`t release the score a 2nd time (I was thinking of Varese`s The Burbs as an example, they released it twice. The second time with more music). 2, What if it never surface, if that happens we will probably never see it released at all. so bring it on and release it, it`s a no-brainer if I get to say so. |

So, there are some people here that have no problem paying $40 for the complete Road House score? Those that want it released now, in its incomplete form are saying that they want to pay $40 for the score? You will be buying it twice? Over the years I have bought and re-bought scores to get the better presentation. Well, I have stopped doing that. I have paid $60 to finally get the complete remastered score of Logan's Run and have 3 disc to show for it. At that time I decided as fast as these are being re-released (with the help of Kritzerland and their reissues of reissues), why bust your butt to buy it now! People say just sell the old one, but I have tried in a few case and $.99 in not worth selling them! Good example, I did not get the Varese's The Great Escape and now Intrada releases it as a 2 CD set? Purchased! Glad I waited, just like I will do if they release Road House incomplete. To release it now and then release the cue on another score CD, like FSM did with The Prize would be a waste? Why bother? They need to be together. |

I say you are NO true fan of the music if you can wait for it a couple of years. As soon as I hear a label is working on a special title that I know I´m interested in, I can´t wait for it to be released as I don´t know where I´ll be in 2-3 years and why wait for the music then? It´s not like someone is forcing you to buy the titles released, is there? If you think the title isn´t a priority to get a release, why should the label listen to you then? they should listen to the fans who would throw themselves infront of a train over this title (not literarly, but I hope you know what I´m getting at). A true fans who wants it real bad, happily spends another round if a better release will come in the future (I know I will) and even if intrada gets the full Road House, what doesnt say that another label in a few years time gets the right to rerelease it and by that time maybe even enhance it more than Intrada could do in 2011, as the progress continues to develop all the time... No, I think they will listen to those who screams for a release and the rest will buy it anyway as they do not want to miss it if there won´t be another release in the future...SO BRING IT ON DOUG ![]() |
