Post subject: | Question about Intrada's Predator |
This questions concerns the final track of the Intrada release, and how it compares to the final track of Varese's version. Varese's version started with an unused cue that runs for the first minute, being going into "The Pick-Up", and then concluding with a version of "End Credits" that is shorter than Intrada's "End Credits" Intrada's version does not contain that minute-long unused cue; the track begins with "The Pick-Up" and then follows with the "End Credits" that are almost twice as long as Varese's "End Credits". So my 2 questions are: 1. Why was this unused cue not included on Intrada's set? What is the cue called and what was it written for? 2. Why the difference in length between the two End Credits? If that was confusing at all, here is more detail: Varese: 0:00-1:06 = Unused cue (1:06) 1:06-2:12 = "The Pick-Up" (1:06) 2:12-end = "End Credits" (2:32) Intrada: 0:00-1:09 = "The Pick-Up" (1:09) 1:09-end = "End Credits" (4:49) Thank you so much for any answers you can give. |

OK, Al Kaplan's liner notes in the Varese release explain what the unused cue is: "Silvestri originally scored Dutch's helicopter pick-up with a reiteration of the score's opening star-field descending string line. The use of this music, which was used to score the arrived of the Predator, suggests that Dutch has always been the actual "Predator" of the film's title, or at least he is now." I also learned that "The Pick-Up" isn't an original cue at all; It's simply "He's Our Friend" repeated, minus the last 15 seconds. So my question is why did the Intrada set not contain Silvestri's original intended finale cue, and contain a repeat of "He's Our Friend" in its place? (My End Credits question has been answered; The Varese CD presents the End Credits piece as written, the Intrada CD presents the piece looped to match how its heard in the final film) |

Well, UninvitedGuest's off-topic negative comments aside.... My original question remains: Why was Silvestri's original Finale cue not included on the Intrada release? |

Well take it from me, this is a superb CD. I never got the Varese version, but the differences sound minor at best. |
