I've been wanting to ask this very question! More importantly, WHY wasn't it included in the LaLaLand release!?!?!?!?!

@Doug: may i ask what the alternate STAR TREK V fanfare sounded like? More like the tyical RAMBO-style of the time or was it modeled after the Courage tune? |

It wasn't included because it wasn't recorded. Doug only heard a run-through, apparently, and then it was discarded. It *might* still exist in manuscript form, though, so if some label were doing a new Goldsmith re-recording they could supposedly find it and include it as a bonus (I'm sure there are other things like that, such as the unrecorded Williams cues mentioned in FSM's booklet for the Superman box).
