INTRADA Announces: GLORY & HONOR Composed and Conducted by BRUCE BROUGHTON INTRADA Signature Edition ISE 1042 The 1998 TNT original movie Glory & Honor is set in a life-threatening land,15 degrees below zero, where the urge to survive tends to pull more weight than racial biases. Such was the other discovery of American Navy commander Robert Peary in his relentless quest to find the North Pole. The film set out to vindicate the honor of Peary’s black valet, Matthew Henson, a man who history has come to regard as co-discoverer of the North Pole. When Bruce Broughton set out to score Glory & Honor, there were a several angles the score could emphasize: the adventure itself, set in a vast sea of ice and snow; and demanding heroic efforts from hardy explorers, risking their lives from bizarre dangers such as the threat of falling through hidden crevices. And at the heart of it all was a decisive heroic effort that demanded a heroic theme. The primary elements of the score were the ice itself, the heroism of the principals and the relationships between them, their families and Inuit guides. The score is often colorful but cold in its choice of instrumental colors and sonorities. The heroic main theme is most often stated in the brass, with the woodwinds and strings expressing the more personal themes. The influence of the Inuits can be heard throughout, and there’s even some ragtime, since the story took place at the beginning of the 20th century. Intrada's premiere release is mastered from the original session masters and features the complete score. This Intrada Signature Edition is limited to 1200 units. Fantastic ! I always wanted to get Glory & Honor since I heard tracks of it. ![]() Thanks !!! 1998 was a fabulous Broughton year with four other varied scores: - Lost in Space, - One Though Cop, - Krippendorf's Tribe, - Jeremiah. Thanks to the loyauty of Intrada toward Bruce's work, Glory and Honor is the fourth score of the list to be released. Why no add Lost in Space to your order ? This is an amazing underestimated score IMHO - and the CD is still avaible hopefully thanks to Intrada efforts ! ![]() ![]() |

Awesome: More Broughton! By the way: I noticed, that this CD appears in the Intrada Special Collection on the website, not under Signature Editions... You might want to change that. ![]() |
