I just wanted to mention I greatly appreciate the effort from Tadlow (which is so rare among the film music labels) to have released a Blu-ray audio with a DTS-HD track in 5.1 (Obsession by Bernard Herrman). The film music enthousiast AND the audiophile I am thank them for this wonderful idea ! |

I agree. I wish the "Blue Max" release (and of course a few others) had gotten the same treatment. |

Let's hope we'll see more Blu-ray audio discs from Tadlow ! The only film music label to offer to us audiophiles the film scores the best way possible on disc. |

I still think Intrada should test the waters with a couple of Blu-ray Pure Audio offerings, which is easy for me to say when it’s not my money on the line. To repeat myself from the suggestion thread a while back, I think the following multi-tracks can be made into really neat surround mixes. I was told that when "Silverado" was re-mixed two or three years ago, that a 5.1 mix was done as well as the stereo. If that's true, that would be a 5.1 SACD I would buy in a 240bpm heartbeat. |

A new Blu-ray audio of The Classic Film Score of Franz Waxman by Charles Gerhardt is being released by HDTT, a label specialized in HD sound. Sound specs : Transferred from a RCA 4-track Dolby Encoded Discrete Quadraphonic tape 2.0 DTS HD MA 24bit/192kHz 4.0 DTS HD MA 24bit/192kHz Seems very promising ! Now it seems like Blu-ray audio is the way to go HD... ^^ |

I have that title and two others that they released as well. They're okay, but not outstanding. I'm not sure a 192K transfer is necessary from a 1/4" 4 track tape that was running at 7 1/2 ips (or perhaps only 3 3/4 ips. I used to own a couple of those reel to reels from the 60's that RCA put out of the Classic Film Score series and they were 3 3/4 ips. |
