Another classic western score sees the light of day! I got a friend to snag a copy of this release for me. It's 2 CDs, with disc 1 containing the album presentation and disc 2 containing the complete film score. Priced at $19.98, limited to 1200 copies. Bruce Kimmel says it may be the fastest selling Kritzerland title to date. I'll be glad to have this one in my hands - the sound clips were enough to gauge my interest.

'Tis a shame. Maybe it'll turn up in a vault someday... However, I do enjoy Intrada's release of Boy on a Dolphin. The Cafe track is a good favorite.

This has become my favorite Friedhofer -- after BOY ON A DOLPHIN. But among the JACKS "bonus tracks," has anyone else noticed that the Alternate Main Title is actually from Jerome Moross' THE JAYHAWKERS? Well, at least we now know Paramount still has that one! |

We've added the following to the Jacks page at the Kritzerland site: CD 1 contains the LP presentation of the score, along with two alternate cues from the full score (they wouldn’t fit on CD 2).The alternate main title is especially interesting - on the recording logs it is simply listed as “Alternate Main Title” and the slate sequentially fits with everything recorded around it and whoever is slating is the same person.When preparing the release that was all we had to go on, even though we all thought it sounded like Jerome Moross and figured someone had asked Friedhofer for a main title alternate more like The Big Country. As it turned out, after the CDs had shipped someone alerted us to the fact that this piece is, in fact, by Jerome Moross - his main title to The Jayhawkers.The mystery remains unsolved as to why it was either newly recorded here as part of the One-Eyed Jacks sessions or found its way to those tapes and is listed on the Jacks recording logs as “Alternate Main Title.” So, think of it as a nice Jerome Moross bonus. |
