Intrada Soundtrack Forum

Just pulled this off the shelf and listened to it again after years. What a pleasant surprise. Am I the only one that loves it when this happens? Meaning, a score that you've overlooked for any number of reasons, really hits the spot upon revisiting?

ups- thought it was sold out - then i will order it with the next releases.

(i find my way to Fielding very late and thru some fine intrada releases, so i missed some of the earlier cds like Wild Bunch and Garcia)

How strange. I have been listening to this for the last month or so and remembering how much I loved it originally. I think it all started when I finally gave FSM's recent release of ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN a spin, which was a revelation in itself. So I went on a bit of a David Shire binge. RETURN TO OZ has always been a fave, and I really like his theme for 'NIGHT, MOTHER, too. Of course, there are a half dozen more great ones, and plenty more "just OK" beyond that.

A friend of mine who is a classical pianist really broke down for me, just how tough THE CONVERSATION is to play. Personally, I think it sounds like what might happen if Scott Joplin and Erik Satie could have their own conversation. But whatever it sounds like and however tough it is to play, it's a real pleasure to listen to.

Works perfectly in the film, too.
