I know a while back I started a thread about this at FSM, but seeing as there is much love for Goldsmith here, why not? How many people here are as much of a fan of this score as I am? It is in my top ten favorite Goldsmiths for SURE. Maybe even top five. The love theme that starts the album, for me, is perfect. Saxophone and all. It captures love, time, and destiny in a way only Jerry could do. Also the final track reunited, with it's grand and incredible conclusion, is among the best romantic writing that Jerry has ever done.

Let's hear it for this rarely appreciated Goldsmith gem!

LOVE this movie and Goldsmith's music. The music when Mel's playing airplanes in the treehouse was what first caught my attention when I saw the movie on TV years ago and after I got the CD I've fallen for every note that's available. Great piece of work.

This is a great score, but I do not know if I could put a top ten list together of Goldsmith
scores, he has too many good scores I would have 100 titles in my top ten!

The music at the end when Mel is flying the plane to the light house has also got to be
some of the most stirring music in the film, then it transforms as he sees HER!

Always thought this film and score were underrated.

The region 2 DVD is in 1,85, and this is a splendid script/movie/score with an early touching Elijah Wood... The CD is among some of my favorite from Goldsmith... I love the action and the romance he put out for this charming little story... A 90's classic, if you ask me.

Wasn't this score under that now defunct label, which LLLR said they would be releasing some expanded scores from in the future? I predict a complete score of this in less than a year.


Ed Nassour, an ex studio executive who joined FSM a few months ago, tells some wonderful stories about stuff that happened at the studio, and interestingly enough, he had a story about the score -- having trouble finding it, but I think it was something like:

Jerry was complaining because the recording stage was a mess and dirty and that appearently no one had cleaned it up. And I think -- I may be confusing stories -- he was also bitching because he, along with other composers, didn't like recprding there.

I've heard Goldsmith's music for FOREVER YOUNG only once, years ago when I saw the movie, when it had its theatrical run. Somehow, I never bothered to pick up the CD, and well, now it's gone. I googled a few clips of this score and it sounds indeed very nice. A new release of that score is certainly welcomed.

When I first ran across FOREVER YOUNG at a used CD store, I picked it up because, well, it's Jerry dammit! He was hit and miss during this period, but I really fell in love with this soundtrack. For a while I listened to it at work every day (it's great music to program to), and played it for my fellow Jerry-philes. I haven't listened to it start to finish in quite some time, but this thread has motivated me to give it another spin.

You have to love it when there are still undiscovered treasures to be found from someone you've listened to and admired practically your entire life.
