I don't have anything particularly new to add about this score, only that I just watched the wonderful looking Blu-Ray. I have more of an appreciation for Jenny Agutter than ever before. And Goldsmith's score is simply perfect. There is not a wasted note in the score (and thank you FSM for that spectacular restoration of the score). Its architect of using electronic and strings only in the dome, full orchestra outside the dome is ingenious. From the warm love theme, the haunting brass for the monuments, the relentless action music, the electronic rhythms of the runner hunts, the dance-like carousel, and even the eccentric love shop...it all makes for an amazing musical ride. Even Michael York calls out the music in the film's commentary. And then there's Jenny Agutter. Music...was there music in the film? |

I have yet to get this but it is definitely oh so on my radar. I might get it next week after I find out what Intrada is releasing. |

At one time a complete and remastered Logan's Run had been right there on the top of my "Holy Grail" scores. Logan's Rund is one of Jerry Goldsmith's very best scores ever in my opinion (and, considering how many excellent scores Mr. Goldsmith wrote, that's saying a lot). The FSM release is a dream come true. It's really hard for me to fathom why this release is still being around, while so many other, lesser releases sold 3000 units in a day or two. It's puzzling to me, though I think it's great that the score is still around. |

Don't forget about Jenny's performance in An American Werewolf in London, which I appreciate even more each time I see it. Back to the Logan's Run Blu-Ray, it is cool to see that someone else thinks the transfer is good for the release. So many give it bad marks on blogs etc, mainly because it hasn't gone over extensive restoration for debris removal etc, but thankfully WB's released the MGM film as a true HD transfer, if the image is soft, or sharp it is due to the film stock, lighting etc and is only being presented as it was originally shot. Not every film will look pristine and sharp as the latest PIXAR blu-ray release. |

As for Jenny Agutter performances in which she kept her clothing on, I am partial to The Snow Goose, in which she starred with Alan Bates (with a nice Carl Davis score). |

Sadly, the UK DVD of LOGAN'S RUN is in the wrong *&^%£%$ ratio! But Jenny Agutter also did an episode of RED DWARF, which places her above all criticism as far as I'm concerned. Amazing how no-one's mentioned her nudey bits in AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON yet. |
