I just saw this sad announcement over at FSM, and thought I'd post the news here. Erich Kunzel died today, of cancer. He was 74. I had the honor of meeting Maestro Kunzel after a concert in Detroit several years back, and was invited up to his dressing room to chat for a few minutes with a fellow concert attendee. His enthusiasm for the work he was doing was abundant, and he was a real pleasure to talk to. He will be greatly missed. Click for the Associated Press article. |

He will indeed. Mr Kunzel was a good man for film music; I treasure the two compilations of westerns he recorded for Telarc. His Mancini album was excellent too. - JMM. |

I happened to be listening to "Confluence" from Memoirs of a Geisha when I saw the news, and it was so sad. He will be missed. ![]() |
