Alan Menken and Marc Shaiman are very good singers. Alan has performed the beautiful song "Anytime You Need a Friend" on his Home on the Range album and Marc has sung some on various albums (the funny "It Doesn't Get Better Than This" on Hairspray, the sarcastic "Printmaster" about the world of film scores, and the beautifully moving "What Makes a Family").

When on screen the lead actress comes around
Every hair on her head makes a sound
But her theme that I wrote
That I love the most

Peter Gabriel comes immediately to mind, who wrote a couple of excellent film scores (not "song scores") like BIRDY and THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST.

Loreena McKennitt has composed documentary film music for the National Film Board (?), not sure if it was the NFB. There is an instrumental piece, from one of her scores, on one of her earlier CDS, prior to her first mega-hit, THE VISIT. I have always thought she has a pretty good dramatic sense in her ballads. Some of her hits have been used dramatically in scores by Lee Holdridge (MISTS OF AVALON) and James Horner (I can't remember it as it was a minor Horner score and a film I didn't take to, [I think it dealt with either the occult or mysticism) so I promptly erased it from my memory).

Enya scored at least one film. Also, Peter Gabriel did one recently (2007 I think); A TV film, I think a History Channel thing, about sea monsters. Did it with two other people.

Lisbeth Scott, who has provided vocal on Debney scores, has also provided additional score on some of his films, and co-composed one with him ("Ithuteng").
