Underground (
http://www.moviescoremedia.com/underground.html) composer Stuart Hancock's score for Chee Keong Cheung's new film, Bodyguard - A New Beginning - is an equally engaging modern film music piece written for orchestra and electronics. This score puts a little more emphasis on character-driven music, as the story is about a Hong Kong bodyguard who is sent to the UK to protect a woman whose identity is known only by his boss. Hancock's dark, percussive and driving action music is coupled with reflective themes and atmospheric suspense writing.
MovieScore Media's release of the score co-incides with the DVD release of the film in the UK

Newcomer Stuart Hancock has composed a powerful and exciting orchestral/electronic score for this action movie about an undeground tournament in London where twelve fighters clash to fight for £500,000. Our release of the explosive score, which has a particularly driving and motivating main theme, follows the DVD release of the film on May 18.
The music is adrenaline-pumping, heroic, intensely rhythmic and - simply put - entertaining! This CD will be followed by Hancock's most recent score for the director and producer of Underground, Chee Keong Cheung, Bodyguard: A New Beginning, on June 9.

Evan Evans' score for The Poker Club is a very dark and sensual score which recalls the sound of Jerry Goldsmith's film noir excursions, and its elegant 'under-your-skin' qualities may remind some listeners of Howard Shore's finest scores. The Poker Club, which was released on DVD in the US on April 21, is a dark thriller starring Johnathon Schaech, Judy Reyes and Johnny Messner. It tells the story about four friends whose weekly poker night turns into a nightmare when they discover and accidentally kill a burglar.
Young composer Evan Evans, who is the son of legendary jazz icon Bill Evans, has crafted a score which effectively combines a live orchestra with electronic elements, with low brass clusters, sustained misterioso string writing and a sophisticated main theme at its core.

In our second collaboration with composer Benjamin Wallfisch (the first one was Dear Wendy), we present the strikingly original, highly emotional and unusual score he wrote for Rupert Wyatt's acclaimed thriller The Escapist. Our online release of the score co-incides with the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA)'s nomination of the score for the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for Best Original Film Score and follows the US theatrical release of the film (the CD will be released in a couple of weeks, on May 5).
The UK production won honours both at the British Independent Film Awards and the Scottish BAFTA Awards and 29-year old Benjamin Wallfisch's score was nominated for the World Soundtrack Award for 'Discovery of the Year,' (just as his previous score, Dear Wendy, was in 2005).
It is a score that has been singled out by many film reviewers as one of the film s most strikingly effective elements. Building and developing his score around an aggressive main theme in 7/8 meter, Wallfisch juxtaposes elements of heartbreaking beauty with adrenaline-pumping orchestral music and hard-hitting electronica. The amalgamation of these diverse elements results in a truly unique listening experience both in the film context and on its own!

Performed by Polar Music Prize winning conductor Valery Gergiev's Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre, Russian composer Andrey Sigle's score for Alexander Sokurov's award-winning drama Alexandra, is an immensely beautiful and emotional film score with a distinct classical sound.
The film, which was nominated to the 2007 Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival, tells the story about an elderly woman who visits her grandson at his army camp inside Chechnya. Sigle's orchestral score is both intimate and grand, filled with evocative themes and warm and passionate orchestrations. Cinema Without Border's wrote that the music is "ever evocative and never intrusive, beautiful in its own right" and "haunts with an indelible impression."
Our release of the soundtrack co-incides with the US DVD release of the film on April 7.
