And may I add Letters to Warsaw is truly a beautiful song cyle, with great orchestral interludes throughout. A very moving work.

I've never listened to his operas, as he used to be quite famous for these in the seventies. Has anyone listened to some of them ? Are they any good ?

While I've no inside information, I get the idea that orchestrating pays the rent, puts food on the table, and his real love is his concert work.
