I've read on the FSM board that James Fitzpatrick saved the masters to Thunderdome from being tossed in the garbage, so hopefully the licensing will be worked out and a release will happen sometime this year. (hoping & praying!) I don't know about the May's score to the first film, but all I've read is the only known masters to Road Warrior got recycled by the studio. (guessing the album masters still exist) It's heartbreaking! It would be a miracle is missing back-ups arose, but I'm not holding my breath. Matt |

FYI http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/p ... &archive=0 James Fitzpatrick: When CTS studios closed down, Maurice Jarre asked me to rescue his tapes of the sessions recorded there including THE BRIDE, PASSAGE TO INDIA and MAD MAX III. So I have is safe storage the multi tracks for these and other films. As regards MAD MAX III, I recently had the 3 track mix down tapes roasted in a slow oven for 5 days before transferring everything to hard drive. I then went in the studio for two days and "mixed" the 3 track of all of the cues...so I now have a beautiful transfer of the original mixes in lovely analogue of some 120 minutes of Maurice's terrific score. Now just waiting to get clearance from EMI etc.. for a limited Edition 2 CD set of the whole score.... let's see what happens with the legal departments..... |

I have sent an e-mail last week to Mr. Fitzpatrick, and the answer was: "Still waiting for clearances to come from Australia All the best James From Tadlow Music" |

As for MAD MAX and MAD MAD 2 aka THE ROAD WARRIOR, reports over the years suggest that one or both sets of masters were junked long ago. A shame as both scores were as intelligent as they were explosive. Brian May truly outdid himself. |

I was under the impression that the LP of The Road Warrior was assembled the way it was because that was what was available at the time. A re-recording would be most welcome. |
